Eagle’s Flight utilized Microsoft Dynamics GP, along with Concur for expense claims. With hundreds of expense claims to file, the team quickly learned double entry across systems was not an efficient use of time. After a quick Google search, they found the solution they needed.

As an unexpected bonus, their selected integration toolset, SmartConnect by eOne Solutions, easily moved their integrations when they switched ERPs from Dynamics GP to Dynamics 365 Business Central.

The Solution

Eagle’s Flight simply built one SmartConnect integration to take expenses entered in Concur and bring them into Dynamics GP as a payables transaction. The integration was very straightforward and even handled the complexity of 14-digit strings in their GL codes. Eagle’s Flight also set up email notifications on both successful and failed integrations, so their team could easily trouble shoot if needed.

This one basic map saved them at least 4 hours or more a week.

Changes in ERP

The Eagle’s Flight team had the Concur to GP integration running smoothly for a year and a half. Then, they faced another dilemma: due to the project-based nature of their business, the team needed to move on to a new ERP.

After selecting Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, the Eagle’s Flight team was pleasantly surprised to learn they could continue utilizing SmartConnect for their integrations with Concur.

“It was simple and such a relief to know we could use a tool that we knew and trusted to continue a critical integration for us. Using SmartConnect to move our integrations built for Dynamics GP to new D365 Business Central integrations provided the best outcome,” mentioned DeJonge.

Future Plans

At the beginning of the year, Eagle’s Flight plans to roll out even more integrations between Concur and Dynamics 365 Business Central.

DeJonge mentioned his next project, “Now on the list is moving all our client expense claims to integrations handled by SmartConnect. Once that’s live, our time savings will likely jump to 2 days a week because we have a data entry person manually doing everything by hand now.”

Continuing, “That’s what I’m really excited about – the integration allowing us to get rid of those manual expenses.”
