PRMG Enhances Mortgage Operations with SmartConnect and Extender in Dynamics GP

Paramount Residential Mortgage Group (PRMG) is a leading lender in the mortgage industry and has successfully helped many borrowers purchase and refinance their homes in the Western United States. With a need to track critical loan information on over 75,000 customers, PRMG needed secure systems and an easy way to import information to specific fields in Microsoft Dynamics GP.

Problems & Challenges

PRMG approached eOne for a solution to import sales transaction information and additional account information from their front-end loan system to Microsoft Dynamics GP. The scope of the project involved creating numerous SmartConnect integrations to integrate with both Analytical Accounting and Extender fields.

The Solution – SmartConnect & Extender

PRMG had been using QuickBooks, along with a front-end loan system to capture their sales transactions and accounting information. With needs for a more robust accounting system, the ability to capture additional sales transaction information, and do so in a system with reliable security, PRMG chose Microsoft Dynamics GP as their ERP system of choice, along with the help of SmartConnect and GP Extender.

After using Integration Manager for their initial data load, PRMG found IM to be “extraordinarily slow and difficult to use.” They were also faced with the reality that IM could not integrate to Analytical Accounting or Extender windows, two of the major pieces they not only planned to utilize, but that had convinced them to purchase Microsoft Dynamics GP in the first place. Beauchamp commented, “we felt a little stuck until we started digging around and found SmartConnect.”

Working with the eOne team, PRMG was able to create over 25 integrations to import critical loan and account information into Microsoft Dynamics GP. More importantly, SmartConnect had no problem importing that information for over 75,000 customers, each with unique Analytical Accounting codes. To top it off, SmartConnect also used Extender as both a data source and a destination.

Beauchamp continued: “Extender windows are great because they’re flexible and I can use them to capture any changes made in our environment. We use them to capture data on each loan; we also use it to capture licensed loan officer information, and have windows for legal compliance per state.”

With the ability to capture additional information PRMG needs, Beauchamp commented on their ability to create any integration they need: “After building 25 imports in less than a year, I know that I can delete them, modify them, copy them and I don’t have to hire someone to do that for me.”

A critical integration PRMG created was designed to track funding on each loan. In a single integration, they were able to import the funding entry into GP as a sales transaction, as well as calculate all commissions, distributions, update the customer card, handle the AA entries, update the sales person id, territory id, payment terms, etc. With 30 data points for each loan and 60 to 70 loans entered per day, Beauchamp commented “the cost would be enormous if I didn’t use SmartConnect; we wouldn’t be able to function…I wouldn’t be on GP at all.”

PRMG is able to save on sheer man power required to do the constant data entry that would be needed. “Because of SmartConnect and Extender, we have five people doing our accounting activities. At a former company I was involved in, with the same loan volume, we staffed 23 people just to keep up,” indicated Beauchamp. PRMG can now pass that savings onto its customer and offer lower interest rates, beating out the competition.

Using Microsoft Dynamics GP, SmartConnect and Extender, Paramount Residential Mortgage Group found a recipe for success.
